No-load Fidelity Mutual Funds
This is Sam Schaeffer, Financial Advisor. I wanted to update you on how our no-load Fidelity Mutual Funds have done so far this year in comparison to the markets and target date funds. Target date funds are mutual funds that are allocated among stocks, bonds and cash. These funds are designed to switch your money more heavily into bonds and cash the closer you are to your retirement. They employ a similar strategy to a managed asset account. As of October 30th, the returns for the above mentioned investments were as follows:
- The weighted average of the 7 funds that we have been recommending this year is 21.48%.
- The average of the Nasdaq, S&P and Dow Jones this year is 21.08%.
- This year, the target date fund Fidelity Freedom 2020 has done 13.7% and Fidelity Freedom 2040 has done 17.98%.
Our strategy is selecting funds based on their Longevity (length of time in existence), Opportunity (right time to invest), Returns (averaging 14% annually), Diversity (in different sectors) and Stability (minimizing negative years).
Sincerely,
Samuel Schaeffer
